Maharajas’ Express will soon begin its journey on the Konkan Coast. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) in association with the world’s leading luxury train, the Maharajas’ Express plans to encourage tourism in the Konkan belt with new rail journeys.
The new services of the Maharajas’ Express, the seven-star luxury train, will start on rail routes to Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala.
Union minister for railways Suresh Prabhu said, “The Maharajas’ Express currently operates in between Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. We are planning to start it on the Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala route by this year-end.
It will cater to tourists who want to visit the Konkan region and also generate employment for locals in the process.” Railway Minister further said, that he has already held discussions with Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar on launch of the train’s new routes.

The 23-coach Maharajas Express currently runs on five rail routes. The train journeys are available in choices of 8 Days/ 7 Nights and 4 Days/ 3 Nights itineraries. Agra, Jaipur, Ranthambore, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Ajanta, Gwalior, Khajuraho, Varanasi, Lucknow, Mysore, Hampi and Goa are the popular highlights.
The Maharajas’ Express luxury train offers the best of modern luxuries which include accommodation, dining, bar, lounge, souvenir shop, generator, and store cars. The train is also equipped with a water filtration plant, personal attendant and other luxuries fit for royal pleasures.
