The latest name added to the fleet of Indian luxury trains, Maharajas’ Express is often compared to the Venice Simplon Orient Express owing its avant-garde amenities and world class services. This luxury train is owned and managed by Indian Railways Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and was re-launched in the beginning of 2012 with five brand new itineraries- Gems of India, Treasures of India, Indian Splendor, Indian Panorama and Heritage of India. Over the years of its inception, this luxury tourist train has earned several accolades from famous travel magazines and connoisseurs of luxury travel around the world. The first achievement of Maharajas’ Express came in 2010 at the 4th edition of CNBC AWAAZ Travel Awards held in New Delhi on 6th September. Maharajas’ Express was adjudged the ‘Best Luxury Train’ at this award ceremony. The award ceremony was organized by CNBC AWAAZ channel in association with the One Stop Shop and Incredible India was one of the major sponsors. All the winners were felicitated by Kumari Selja, Minister of Tourism, India.
2. The next achievement of Maharajas’ Express was the Conde Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Award in 2011. However the first prize was grabbed by the Hiram Bingham Express, owned by the Orient Express group. Maharajas’ Express was given the 1st runner up prize in the Specialist Train Operators Category awarded at Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Travel Award. The award ceremony took place in London on 31st August, 2011.

The latest Maharajas’ Express achievement is the coveted World Travel Award 2012 in the category of ‘World’s Leading Luxury Train’. The award ceremony took place in the New Delhi Capital Region at Oberoi hotel, Gurgaon on 12th December, 2012. The gala event also marked the end of the Blue Train’s 3 times winning streak in the same category.
