The tariff of the Maharajas’ Express includes cost of travel, accommodation, all meals, water, beverages, house brands of wines, beer and spirits, and sightseeing at the destinations. The tariff also includes entrance fees of monuments, guides, tour managers, still camera fees, and all leisure activities.

The tariff however does not include laundry, telephone calls, gratuities, liquors and alcoholic beverages (apart from house brands of wines, beer and spirits). Video, films and professional still camera fees are also excluded from the tariff.

As per Indian law, smoking is prohibited inside the train as well as other public places.

Smart casuals for the day, clothes with subdued colors for jungle safari and formal attire for the dinner to suit the occasion and as a consideration for fellow travelers is expected. Since the itinerary involves walking excursions off train, it is recommended that you carry walking shoes with you.

Maharajas’ Express India offers a total of 4 pre-packaged, all-inclusive itineraries. Three of them are pan-Indian itineraries spanning over 6 nights/7 days and the other one itineraries are golden triangle tours spanning over 3 nights/4 days.

On all excursions off-train, you will be accompanied by professional guides with in depth knowledge of the locality. Foreign language speaking guides can also be arranged at additional cost on prior request at the time of booking by the guests.

No, your booking amount includes the cost of lunch as well as house brands of alcoholic drinks. But you will have to pay for the wines and spirits served at the bar. You can also avail of À la Carte meals and snacks.

Yes, children are allowed on-board Maharajas’ Express. 

We request that the guests should carry baggage as per the standards that are set by the international airlines. Because of limited storage space, it is recommended that you should carry soft topped luggage.

It is always better that you do the booking as early as possible to avoid any last minute disappointment, considering the popularity of the train. It is advisable that you make the bookings 3-4 months prior to the journey.

The train has 23 coaches that can accommodate 88 guests in total. The cabins of the train have been segregated into Deluxe Cabins (20), Junior Suites (18), Suites (4) and Presidential Suite (1). Spacious in size, each cabin is well-equipped with every world-class facility such as WI-Fi, telephone with ISD, attached bathrooms and much more. The train also has a lounge, a bar and 2 dining cars.

Laundry service is not included in the train fare. However, it is available in limitation at select destinations. It is advisable that you contact your carriage butler for more details.

For off-board travel it is advisable you carry INRs in varying denominations (5,10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1000). Currency exchange counters are quite a few and reasonably located. A few proprietors may even accept payment in USD.

The dimensions of the train and its passages do not make it suitable for passengers who are wheelchair-bound. However, passengers with slight walking difficulties can be accommodated. But it is recommended that an able-bodied person should accompany such a passenger. In case of any special requirement, information should be given at the time of booking.

Maharajas’ Express is centrally air-conditioned. However, every cabin has an individual temperature controlling device with which you can adjust the temperature as per your preference.

Yes, every cabin has an LCD TV.

Maharajas’ Express is one of the finest and most well-known luxury trains of India that offers a traveling experience that is as safe as it is luxurious. Each cabin has an electronic safe. There are live television, CCTVs in all the public areas and electronic smoke detection systems too. You will have a comfortable ride because of Pneumatic Suspension System. Hygiene levels are maintained and there is a water filtration plant also. The services of a paramedic are available on the train round the clock and air ambulance service is available too.

There are no facilities for pets on the train.

It is advisable that every guest should take travel insurance before he makes a booking for any journey on the Maharajas Express. However, for your safety the train is insured for situations like terrorism, fire, theft and earthquake. Thus, every guest is covered under an umbrella insurance cover.

If you want we can make arrangements for your flight but its fare will be extra and not included in the fare of the train journey.
